Victims of Terrorism
October 23, 1994
Arlington National Cemetery, Section 59
Memorial Tree, Rose, Stone, and Purple Ribbon

October 23, 1994 was selected as the day for A Time of Remembrance because on this day in 1983, 297 members of a peace-keeping mission were killed by terrorists in Beirut, Lebanon, including 241 American servicemen.

A Time of Remembrance is an international commemoration for victims of terrorism throughout the world.  It is intended to make the world more aware of the personal consequences of terrorism, particularly the anguish felt by the families and friends of victims, and of the need for people of all nations to work together for peace.

No Greater Love wishes to recognize not only Americans' experience with terrorism, but also terrorism's global destructiveness.  Terrorist acts threaten the futures of children of all nations, and all are a stark deviation from the appropriate means for achieving political goals.
